Robin Hood 2025 Review: A Brutal Medieval Tale That Honors the Legend

-

I was a kid when I first saw the Robin Hood show – Robin of Sherwood (1984), and in this Robin Hood 2025 review, I reflect on how memorable the original was. I can still remember how good that show was and how attached I was to it. And from there onwards, I think I have seen many Robin Hood shows and movies here and there, until recent Robin Hood 2010 by Ridley Scott and Robin Hood 2018 by Otto Bathurst, but honestly none of them feels as good as the original. Just an idea, Ridley’s Robin Hood I think had me something but yeah, not enough.

Robin Hood MGM+ 2025

Now in 2025, MGM+ present a new Robin Hood TV series, staging Sean Bean as Sheriff of Nottingham, and Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham, Jack Patten as Robin Hood and my original thought when I see the announcement is, nah, just another Robin Hood TV show that you can throw on the 20+ others.

Sean Bean as Sheriff of Nottingham - Robin Hood MGM+ 2025

Anyway first two three episodes seems boring and feels bit dragging out. A Saxon outlaw fighting against Norman sheriff and a military, still learning and finding a true purpose is not bad. One thing I truly surprised is the Game of Thrones style of the show with brutal, killing, more lustful romantic scene to a masterful cunning political agendas, how the young Rob tied it to all of this in middle while losing loved ones day by day.

Show represent the complex of the Saxon life, Saxon and Norman love how it affect everyone around, the powerful political figures and how the innocents get in middle, Robin Hood itself trying show a show that is not just some fantasy but driven what actual life problems, make viewer truly seeing the complex situations characters face through their actions.

Robert Locksley - Robin Hood 2025 Review - MGM+

Currently 7 episodes are aired and 3 more to come, and I think the way Robin Hood TV show is actually a good progress from the start. It was not in the certain state where it’s the best, but yet quite enjoyable and if all went well it could be one of the best Robin Hood reception of throughout the history.

So do I recommend it, yeah, I would. If you’re someone who love Robin Hood stories, yeah you can try it and see if it in your taste. Someone who generally likes medieval stories with King, the Robin Hood would definitely be more and more appealing.
